AFTER CARE

Everyday Cleaning: Simple but Effective

Use a soft mop or microfiber cloth with warm water and a pH-neutral cleaner, this keeps your tiles clean without damaging the surface or grout.

Avoid harsh chemicals like bleach or acidic cleaners, especially on natural stone or matte finishes.

For splashbacks or walls, a damp cloth with mild detergent works perfectly to remove grease or residue.

Tip: Regular light cleaning prevents dirt build-up and keeps grout from discolouring.

Drying: The Step Most People Skip

Drying tiled surfaces is just as important as cleaning. After mopping or wiping down, go over tiles with a dry microfiber cloth or towel to avoid water spots or mildew in grout lines especially in bathrooms and showers.

Drying regularly helps prevent limescale build-up, particularly in hard water areas.

Deep Cleaning: For When Life Gets Messy

Even well-maintained tiles need a deeper clean now and then. Here’s how to do it safely:

For floors: Use a steam mop or a diluted solution of warm water with a specialized tile cleaner.

For grout lines: Mix baking soda and water into a paste, apply to grout, then scrub gently with a soft brush (not metal).

Avoid abrasive pads or scouring products that can scratch tile surfaces.

For stubborn stains or discoloured grout, consider a professional deep clean every 12–18 months.

Protecting Your Tiles & Grout with Sealers

To truly protect your investment, sealing is highly recommended especially on natural stone, porous tiles, and grout lines.

Tile Sealers: Ideal for stone, porcelain, and unglazed tiles. These prevent staining, make cleaning easier, and help preserve the tile’s original look.

Grout Sealers: Applied after installation and curing, they repel moisture, dirt, and oils, keeping grout from cracking or going mouldy over time.

Ask during installation: I offer sealing services post-install to ensure maximum protection from day one.

What to Avoid: Common Aftercare Mistakes

Don’t use vinegar or lemon-based cleaners on tiles, they can etch surfaces and degrade grout.

Don’t rely solely on vacuuming for tiled floors, it misses fine dust that builds up over time.

Never use wax-based products on tiles, they create residue and make floors slippery.
